Jaw hits....wall?

escape2
escape

This is the wheelchair escape exit from the first floor of a certain council owned building somewhere in England. It may look vaguely like an elongated mattress, but it is in fact concrete, very steep, and ends approximately 18 inches above the ground, about 5 feet from a brick wall..... Yes that's what I was thinking, which was why I got a photo. Who thought this up? We shall probably never know.

Oh and by the way...

Can you believe this? Well yes I can unfortunately. What is very unfortunate for The Sun is that they picked absolutely the wrong guy, because he is a media studies professor who is writing a book about precisely this use of the "free" press for political purposes. The problem is where do you go for the truth? Maybe the Guardian? Somebody will now probably tell me The Guardian are bending the facts too!

90 days...

We have been here before with this government. I have previously voted for Labour, but I have reached the crunch point now. We trusted them on Iraq and we all know how that panned out. "A different type of terrorism" demands different measures. Bush's answer was Guantanamo Bay. Blair can't get away with that, but imagine being locked up for 90 days without charge or trial. And there will be innocent people this happens to. It's the equivalent of a 6 month sentence. Maybe we don't care what happens to terrorists, but the justice system, and personal freedom, is now under attack in the name of security, and it's completely unacceptable.
